The Toronto Music Experience (TME) acknowledges that the land we are located on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
This land — now called Toronto — has long been a place of gathering, creation, and community, and all of us at TME recognize that music has always been part of this land. We honour the Elders, Knowledge Keepers, songwriters, singers, drummers, and dancers — past, present, and future — who remind us to listen deeply. As we work together today on preserving Toronto’s history through music, may we remember that our own efforts form part of a larger composition, one built on respect, reciprocity, and shared rhythm.”
